Since I was a young kid, I knew the Lord placed a calling on my life towards missions. I’ve always loved it! I think a large part of that is from my Mom’s dedication to missions that also started when she was very young. Some of my favorite moments with her are when she would come back home from trips and tell us about the great things God did while she gave us our souvenirs. I begged her to let me go on trips with her for as long as I can remember, and it took some time, but I finally went on my first one to Nicaragua in 2021. I absolutely loved it, which is why it brought me so much joy to hear that I was able to return this past June.
It had been exactly two years since the first time I went, but this time we brought an incredible team with us! Even though I had collaborated with the team in the weeks leading up to the trip, I was still very anxious about being the youngest member of the team. I knew that God had given me a purpose and a reason to be there, but still I doubted that the role I played would be meaningful in comparison to the role other members of our team played. At some points, I wondered if my presence there was needed at all. However, it didn’t take me long to realize that wasn’t the case.
When I look back on the trip, I can see all the provisions God made for our success. Every member of our team was gifted and worked with an attitude of selflessness, and that’s what made us able to do God’s will while we were there. When one person was preparing to deliver a message, everyone else was interacting with people, setting up activities, and making sure that the speaker could really focus on delivering God’s message to the people. God called every person on this team to serve his purpose and together we were able to touch the hundreds of people that we interacted with, both women and children. God’s word was not hindered by any fears, language barriers, or distractions on this trip because of the faithfulness of the women he called to be on it. I’m so thankful to have been a part of this team and I look forward to seeing what God does in future IWM trips!
“But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 1:7-9
